So you wanna be a turkey hunter?

This year Rob decided it would be fun to get a turkey tag and see what the turkey hunting world was like. The kids and I decided to go along for the ride. I have to say it was quite enjoyable. However, we weren’t getting up at 4 am to go find the turkey’s either. I think you have to be a turkey to think that is fun! The day we got there it was soooo rainy. The roads were such a greasy, muddy mess I wondered if we were going to make it. Thank goodness for that new truck we just bought, we made it fine. When we pulled into the place we were going to stay Rob pushed on the gas, we were pointing forward and hitting the gas but we were only moving sideways. Slippery! It worked out though, apparently the mud knew just where we would be level, or close enough. Anyway, the second day of the hunt Rob came back to camp around 7:30 am having already shot his turkey. My first thought was: now what are you going to do all week?! It was fine by me, just more time he got to spend with us! We had lots of fun. Our little Jayci loves hunting and fishing so she had a ball. She wasn’t much help hunting though since she has a hard time keeping her mouth shut for 5 seconds. A little trait I think she might have got from her mommy. But she loves it anyway and her daddy is patient enough to take her with him. What a good guy. We bought the kids some camo, they looked adorable in it if I do say so myself. We couldn’t get Jayci to take it off in the store. She was so excited. Rob’s uncle and a friend of his came, Jayci adored his friend JT. Poor guy. You don’t want Jayci to adore you or you never get left alone. He was so good with her though. Rob’s cousin and his family came too. It was soooo much fun to have more kids to play with! We do a lot of camping with Rob’s parents and siblings, which doesn’t include many kids–one if we are lucky. So it was really nice to have 3 more around to play with! Jayci wasn’t nearly as bored as she usually is and they all played together so good! It was a nice break for me. We should do that more often Tye! Oh, I forgot to mention the kids skills at catching creapy, crawly things. Scorpions and lizards are among that list of things. That makes me shudder! Yuck! The weather was great and we had a great time! Hopefully we will do it again next year!

We were total slackers with pictures this trip though. Oh well. Here are the few we took!

Our New Truck

We got a new truck! Something that will pull our trailer a little better. We are excited! Don’t mind the fact that, well as Rob would put it, it looks like it is on rollerskates. I think that’s a little hard on a man’s ego to have such small tires. But for some reason Chevy thought it was a good idea to put stock tires on there that looked like a spare tire. So, as soon as someone wants to give us 5 grand we will be upgrading. Haha! Oh, and anybody want a Tahoe? Ours is for sale.

Easter at Simpson Springs

I have found one thing to be nearly impossible now that we have started all of our camping. Blogging. I don’t have time for this kind of thing. By the time we get home from one trip I have to start packing for another. Not that I am complaining. I love it. I love the time I get to spend with my family. I love that I don’t have to worry about laundry and cleaning and I can focus all of my time on relaxing and spending good quality time with my kids. On that note…

We got to spend Easter with my Dad, Brenda, and her family this year. They have a tradition of going to Simpson Springs and this is the first year we were able to join them. It was lots of fun! We spent a week riding 4-wheelers and playing in the dirt. My kids were in heaven.

We flew kites.

Jayci got to spend some good quality time with her boyfriend.

There were lots of dirty faces that needed washing.

Lots of dirt to play in. The kids would sit and play in it for hours. Too bad I didn’t get too many pictures of that.

Jayci got to play flag football with some of the kids. If you notice her flag goes all the way to her feet.

Lots and lots of riding. My kids LOVE the 4-wheelers. Jayci can drive that little yellow one all by herself. Of course we keep someone on the back just to be safe. They both would ride all day if we would let them. We went on a long ride almost everyday that was a few hours long and I never heard a complaint from either of them. Jayci also loved the big hills. She would just sing her little heart out as you are going up and down those things and always wanted to go one more time! She has no fear.

Easter morning the kids found their baskets that the Easter bunny had hid. We had a little Easter devotional and then we had a huge Easter egg hunt. When I say huge I am not kidding. My Step-Mom had over 1600 Easter eggs to hide for the kids. She is crazy. I felt like we were at a city Easter egg hunt. Each of the kids got about 60 eggs. Way too much candy and each of my kids had a dollars worth of quarters in the eggs they found. They had a blast. Corbin was singing “clean up, clean up!” while he was looking for eggs. It was funny!

My dear husband and brother-in-law Tom were helping hide eggs when a couple of them broke open and the candy fell in the dirt. So, they took it upon themselves to re-fill the eggs. They filled a couple of them with dirt but then came across a lizard. They thought it would be funny to put the lizard in one of the eggs. So they did. We kept a close eye on it the whole time so we would know who got it. My step-brother Glenn and his girlfriend Kylie found it. So everybody gathered around to watch them go through their eggs. I am not sure why they never wondered why everyone was watching them. They got a couple of eggs with dirt in them so they were being a little bit careful. Well, Glenn got the one with the lizard in it! He opened it up and they first thought it was just dirt again–until the lizard sprung at his face. They both screamed bloody murder and Kylie flew across camp as fast as she could. It was hilarious! Poor Kylie, sorry you had to get caught up in it all. I guess that’s what you get when you hang out with guys like Glenn. Haha!

Here is a picture of camp. Rob ran out and got some pictures when he saw the rainbow. We had 15 trailers in a circle and a whole lotta ATV’s.

Here is a picture of all of us after our very last ride before we headed home. It was so much fun! Thanks Dad and the Clarke family!
