It’s Stormin’

So, it seems that people aren’t too excited with the gross pictures of poor little sick Corbin. Cami even asked me why I posted them. :)   I’ll put something up here so the poor little guy’s face isn’t the first thing you see when you get on the blog.

So last weekend, some of Cami’s family and my family were over and we played games and hung out for a while. We ended up staying up way too late, and around 2AM, it started storming outside. I grabbed  my camera and ran out to see if I could get any lightning pics. My first and third exposure I got something, then the storm moved off too far and I couldn’t see the lightning anymore.  Here’s the pics. They were taken in the back yard.

Sick Corbin

Corbin got pretty sick a couple weeks ago. The poor little guy!  I know, every kid gets sick. It’s not that big of a a deal. But he had pink eye. He would wake up looking so terrible, and we got a picture of it. So I decided to share. His poor eyes are all swollen. He also had a sinus infection and bad ear infections in both ears. He’d wake up with his eyes swollen and almost glued shut and snot all over his whole face and head. It was sad, but I had to get a picture. And this one was taken when he was starting to look a little better.

He’s feeling a lot better now!

Hiking – Adams Canyon

My brother-in-law Pete called us up a couple of Saturdays ago and wanted us to go on a hike with him and his wife. We had already made plans with my sisters that day but decided it would be fun so we invited all of them to go with us. Pete and Wendy were the only ones that had ever been up this trail…the rest of us had no idea what to expect. We weren’t sure if it was kid friendly, how long it was, or how long it was going to take us. Usually that’s not a big deal…but with kids you have to know things like this before you head out for a 5 hour hike. We just decided to go and if it got too rough we would just turn around. While hiking there were a lot of people that would stop us and say that they didn’t think we would make it up there with our kids. They said it got pretty steep and rough. That made me nervous…but we proved them all wrong! We did make it! I carried Corbin and Rob carried Jayci…only for about a mile of it and then Jayci was sick of being carried and wanted to walk. I wasn’t sure how that would work because usually she walks for about 10 steps and then thinks she needs to be carried again…I don’t know I think it’s the Princess coming out in her. But to my surprise the girl walked the entire way! It did get really rough and steep but she did it! I was so proud of her. It was a relief too because that got me out of carrying Corbin and Rob got to do that instead! I have decided that hiking is much easier without the kids tagging along…but I kind of like to have them there….the kids have to stop and rest just as often as I do so I can look tough and say I am stopping for them. Haha! Oh and next time I think it would be wise to start the hike earlier than noon. It was HOT! Anyway, it was a fun adventure! We should get out and do this kind of thing more often. It’s excercise and it’s fun! Imagine that.

I went on the annual bowhunt in late August. We usually go Elk and Deer hunting, but this year I didn’t get an Elk tag. I just stuck with the deer tag. Me, Dad, David, Brent, Mike, Brian, Tye, and the kids all went. We had a good time. At first, we didn’t see really much wildlife at all. There were no deer to be found. Just a few does here and there. No elk or even sign. We went all over looking for them, but didn’t find any.

Finally on the last night before we were going to leave, we saw a couple decent little bucks but didn’t get a shot at them. So the last morning, David, Dad, and I got up to go road hunting and we saw a nice big buck, but as soon as I drew back to shoot, it took off and I flung and shot over it’s head from about 20 yard. Pathetic!

So then a little further back the other way, we came to a spot we never see deer, and I thought to myself “we never see anything here. I wonder why.” And right after that we saw a little 2 point buck standing there. David and I jumped down to see if we could get off a shot. I let David shoot first, because he didn’t get a chance to shoot at the first one. He got a direct hit! Right into a tree about 10 feet away from him. But the deer had run off the side of the road, which was about a 30 yard drop, so David hit the tree about 20 feet off the ground. The arrow is still there.

Meanwhile, I headed off in to the trees to see if I could get a shot off. The deer stopped about 50 yards away for just a second in front of a tree and I drew back and let it fly. I heard my arrow hit a tree, but the deer acted like it was hit. So I went down there and sure enough, the arrow went clean through the deer and into the tree. We went back to the truck to give the deer time to lay down and drove on ahead to let David have another chance.

Well, not too much further down the road, we saw three more bucks. David and Dad headed out after them and David took a shot. When he found his arrow, it was bent clear back on itself like a letter “J”. It was crazy! But he missed the deer, anyway.

So we went back to take care of my kill. David and I saw it from the road as we drove past, so I went down to it and it was only 60 yards away from where I shot it. It had gone right down. Later we found out that the arrow had gone right through the center of the heart. So, we had the deer back to camp and cleaned by 10:00 and could pack up camp and go home. It worked out to be a good hunt despite seeing nothing for the first few days.

Anyway, here’s a few pictures that I took over the weekend.

A trip to Flaming Gorge

So, we took a week and headed out to Flaming Gorge. Our annual RV trip. Last year it was Southern Utah. The year before we did South Dakota. This year we took it easy and went to Flaming Gorge. We had a more relaxed schedule than some of the other trips. It turned out to be a pretty nice and relaxing. We did some fishing. Some sight seeing. Lots of sleeping in and relaxing around camp. I did another slideshow for this trip. Sorry I wasn’t as entertaining this time. Just the facts here. :)

A Day With My Mom & Sisters

We had such a fun day out with my mom, my sisters, and their kids! We went to the zoo and then ran over to the Gateway to let the kids play in the water fountains. I have to thank my sister Stephanie for always having the ideas to get together! I love to get together with my sisters and just have a day out, but I rarely plan anything because I always feel like I have a million things I should be doing at home instead. So, if I get invited I will end up going no matter what mess I am leaving at home and it is good for my kids to get out. The kids loved the zoo. They also loved the water fountains. I just wish we would have made it there a little earlier so it wasn’t so cold. By the time we got there it was all shady and a little cool. The water in those fountains is cold, too! The kids had fun anyway–even the babies got in on the action. Then we headed to dinner. We just ate at the food court because we figured we would turn any restaurant into a zoo if we brought our 6 kids under the age of 3 in there! Here are some pictures… I had so much fun. I hope we do it again soon!

Corbin’s first tooth!

I was starting to think Corbin was going to turn 1 before he had any teeth! But nope, he finally got one (Well, it was actually a couple weeks ago…because I am so behind with blogging! Now he has two! I’ll have to get more pictures.) I hear the later the teeth come in the healthier they are so I guess I should be greatful. Hopefully the rest will come in soon though so the poor child can eat a better variety of food without choking on everything!
